Fabricare 2018 took place this past weekend, August 18-19, in Long Beach, CA. The attendees were treated to live demonstrations, educational seminars, and opportunities to connect with current and prospective vendors & suppliers. These shows are a chance to catch up on the latest from the industry and gain valuable knowledge to improve your business – from spotting on the board to marketing on social media.
Here are a few unique things we saw over the weekend:
1. How to Maximize Revenue Streams
Chris Moreno from Drop Locker presented on how to increase profitability through convenience, memorability, and enginuity. A key takeaway was for cleaners to invest in a subscription or loyalty program. “The average consumer has 19 monthly subscriptions with a spending of $857 per month. Their dry cleaning and laundry should be one of them.” Moreno has been a frequent speaker at shows and is a must-see.
2. Million Dollar Collar
Speaking of revenue streams, Million Dollar Collar offers an interesting add-on service for cleaners that feature tailoring in their stores. Claiming to solve the problem of those dreaded droopy collars, MDC uses a sewn in placket stay to give shirts a clean and symmetrical appearance. Paired with Platinum Shirt Service, you’ll offer the best shirt in your market and bring those customers back again and again.
3. CCA’s President’s Reception
Outgoing CCA President Arik Levy (right) treated show attendees to a cocktail party on Saturday at the Renaissance Hotel. During the reception, Arik turned over the gavel to the incoming president and swore in the new board. Sajid Veera was announced as CCA’s Drycleaner of the Year and Milt Chortkoff of Milt & Edie’s was posthumously honored. The President’s Reception is one of the highlights of the weekend and a fantastic time to network with successful operators.
